The Comedy Network

ABOUT

Get ready to laugh out loud with an evening of great comedy as Avalon presents The Comedy Network. Avalon presents the biggest stars of tomorrow … today! April’s line-up includes Jack Barry, multi-award winning comedian and actor Joe Kent-Walters, and the dark and hilarious (Feminist Fringe) Annie McGrath.

Annie McGrath is a comedian renowned for her joke writing skills and deadpan style. Described by The Feminist Fringe as ★★★★★ “dark and hilarious”, Annie’s sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show, Shepherd, received critical acclaim and transferred to a run at London’s Soho Theatre. Annie appeared in the latest series of BBC Wales’ Live From Barry Island, which showcased the best stand-up comic talent from around the UK. Annie was also selected to be part of a line-up of alternative stand-up and character comedians on Channel 4’s Sparks series. Regular tour support for Lou Sanders, Annie’s stand-up has featured on Audible, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio 4 Extra. Alongside stand-up, Annie started out as one-half of acclaimed sketch comedy double-act Twins with Jack Barry; the duo co-wrote and performed various sketches on ITV2’s Elevenish.

Jack Barry is a comedy actor, writer and stand-up who can most recently be seen as series regular in Mae Martin’s sitcom Feel Good series 1&2 (Netflix) and Rose Matafeo’s Starstruck (BBC/HBO). Jack stars in the new series of ITV2's The Stand Up Sketch Show. Other recent TV credits include The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Dad’s Army: The Lost Episodes (Gold), Catastrophe (Channel 4/Amazon), Cuckoo (BBC Three/Netflix) and Turn Up Charlie (Netflix). Not to mention he had a brief stint gracing screens and crisp packets nationwide as the face of McCoy’s crisps for most of 2017-18. Jack has written for Mock the Week (BBC2) and one of his viral sketches Get Staffed was shortlisted for Best Comedy Short at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and won Single Funniest Moment at the Portland Comedy Festival.

Joe Kent-Walters is a multi-award winning comedian and actor from Huddersfield. He has been delighting audiences up and down the country with his idiosyncratic style of outrageous character comedy, most notably with his comic creation Frankie Monroe. His “mesmerising and unpredictable presence” (Chortle)  performing as Frankie saw him win the 2023 BBC New Comedy Award after a “barn storming” (Ibid) set at Glasgow’s Kings Theatre. Joe is now in development with the BBC and is one of Jiksaw’s 2024 ‘Faces of Comedy.
