Beginner Guitar Classes

Saturdays from 12.25pm – 7 & 14 December, 4 & 18 January; 8, 15 & 22 February; 14 & 28 March; 11 April; 2, 16 & 30 May

Tutor Mark Orchin offers a 45-minute classes to beginners (over 16) – learn the basic techniques and chords to accompany popular songs and develop into being able to play a few tunes and picking patterns. It is not essential to read music but some help will be given to follow chord/lead sheets and basic guitar tablature. Please bring your own acoustic guitar.

Blues Guitar Beginners Workshop

Sat 11 January 10am-2.30pm (Part 1) & Sat 8 February (Part 2)

If you can already play the chords of E, A and B7, bring your acoustic guitar and learn to play tunes by Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Howlin’ Wolf.

In this practical workshop, blues musician Con O’Neill introduces the 12-bar blues, demystifying V-IV-Is, turnarounds, shuffles and introducing fundamental techniques such as hammer-ons and pull-offs, and using the pentatonic minor scale to play your first solos.

Harmonica Beginners 1

Sat 18 January 10am-2.30pm

Tutor Con O'Neill covers the basics of tune playing, chord playing and blues improvisation, it is suitable for anyone new to the harmonica.

You will need a 10-hole harmonica in C. For recommended models, or to buy one on the day, contact the tutor on 07481 903 127.

Intermediate Class 10.40am - For those who have continued from the previous beginners class and players who can follow a chord chart and play some simple melodies. 

Improvers Class - 11.30am A class is for players who wish to extend their skills considerably and covers more advanced techniques and styles.

New Beginner/Intermediate Ukulele Class

Mondays 2-4pm 6 & 20 January, 3 & 24 February, 2, 16, 30 March, 6 & 27 April, 4 & 18 May, 1, 15 & 29 June, 6 & 20 July

Beginners Class - A new starters class for over 16s and adults where you will learn how to play chords, accompany songs, tune up and play in a small group.

Improvers Class - A class is for players who wish to extend their skills considerably and covers more advanced techniques and styles and uses charts, notation and tablature.

Tutor Mark Orchin has been running these successful classes at the Hawth now for 2½ years. Mark is a very experienced teacher and performer and plays with popular Folk Rock band Touchstone who have played at the Hawth for many years as part of the folk festivals and other events.

Rachel Cowell offers two blocks of Life Drawing sessions focused on learning and experimenting with new materials and gaining more skills for people regardless of ability or previous experience. Suitable for 16+.

Papercraft with Natalie O’Shea

Saturdays 14 December, 15 February, 28 March, 11 April, 16 May 2pm-4pm

Join Natalie O'Shea to make a minimum of three beautiful handmade cards. Learn techniques, fancy folds and more and be thrilled with what you have created. Everything is provided in the class. This is a fun, relaxed class suitable for beginner crafters or the more experienced. Projects taught at each class are different each month.

Move With Peppa

Fridays (term time)

The popular, pre-school dance, music and movement sessions for children aged 18 months to 5 years old are created using the stories from the award-winning episodes. Parents and children can enjoy the fun and joy of learning and moving together in a 45-minute class are designed to build motivation, physical confidence, coordination, balance and agility within the wonderful and exciting world of Peppa.

Busylizzy

Busylizzy operates a timetable of antenatal fitness, postnatal fitness that you can bring your baby to, and baby classes across Horsham and Crawley. It also offers a community of like-minded mums to hang out with, with regular social events and workshops on relevant themes.

Pregnancy classes include Yoga, Pilates and a strength and cardio session called Vibe. Postnatal fitness sessions include Yoga & Pilates, as well as Aerobics dance fitness, Bootcamp and Buggy Fitness. Meanwhile, your baby can enjoy massage, baby yoga, music and movement, learn to sign or even do arts & crafts.

Membership is super flexible, allowing you to attend classes when it suits you - booking via the app up to 30 mins before classes start, or cancelling up to 2 hours beforehand if something comes up or you just don't fancy it!
