Ukulele Lessons

5 & 26 January, 2 & 16 February, 16 & 30 March, 6 April

Beginners Class
- A new starters class for over 16s and adults where you will learn how to play chords, accompany songs, tune up and play in a small group. This is the 2nd year we have run theses successful classes for ukulele learners so book a place now!

Intermediate Class - For those who have continued from the previous beginners class and players who can follow a chord chart and play some simple melodies. This group uses charts, notation and tablature.
Improvers Class - A class is for players who wish to extend their skills considerably and covers more advanced techniques and styles and uses charts, notation and tablature.

Tutor Mark Orchin has been running these successful classes at the Hawth now for 18 months and they have proven very popular. Mark is an experienced teacher and performer and has played the guitar at The Hawth with Touchstone (Folk Rock) for many years and has just formed a new band called Plush covering ‘80s and modern pop music.

Harmonica Beginners Workshop Pt 1

Sat 12 January 10am-2.40pm, 8 June 10am-2.40pm 

Have you ever thought about taking up the harmonica? Tutor Con O'Neill returns to The Hawth for another session of this popular one-day workshop. Covering the basics of tune playing, chord playing and blues improvisation, it is suitable for anyone new to the harmonica.

You will need a 10-hole harmonica in C. For recommended models, or to buy one on the day, contact the tutor on 07481 903 127

Blues Guitar Workshop

Sat 19 January 10am-2.30pm

If you can already play the chords of E, A and B7, bring your acoustic guitar and learn to play tunes by Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Howlin’ Wolf.

In this practical workshop, blues musician Con O’Neill introduces the 12-bar blues, demystifying V-IV-Is, turnarounds, shuffles and introducing fundamental techniques such as hammer-ons and pull-offs, and using the pentatonic minor scale to play your first solos.

Rachel Cowell offers two blocks of Life Drawing sessions focused on learning and experimenting with new materials and gaining more skills for people regardless of ability or previous experience. Suitable for 16+.

Papercraft with Natalie O’Shea

Saturday 15 December 1.30-5.30pm, Sat 16 February, Sat 30 March and Sat 4 May 1pm-5pm

Come and join Natalie O’Shea to make fabulous handmade greeting cards. If you thought you weren’t artistic, then Natalie will show you how easy it is to make personalised cards whether you think you are crafty or not. 4-hour sessions with all materials provided - however, please bring scissors, ruler, glue and a trimmer, if you have one.

Move With Peppa

Fridays (term time)

The popular, pre-school dance, music and movement sessions for children aged 18 months to 5 years old are created using the stories from the award-winning episodes. Parents and children can enjoy the fun and joy of learning and moving together in a 45-minute class are designed to build motivation, physical confidence, coordination, balance and agility within the wonderful and exciting world of Peppa.

18 months-2½ years: 9.45am-10.30am. 2½-5 years: 10.45am-11.30am. Trial classes are £6.50 and 5 sessions are £30. Pre-booking via the website or email: or emailing



Busylizzy operates a timetable of antenatal fitness, postnatal fitness that you can bring your baby to, and baby classes across Horsham and Crawley. It also offers a community of like-minded mums to hang out with, with regular social events and workshops on relevant themes.

Pregnancy classes include Yoga, Pilates and a strength and cardio session called Vibe. Postnatal fitness sessions include Yoga & Pilates, as well as Aerobics dance fitness, Bootcamp and Buggy Fitness. Meanwhile, your baby can enjoy massage, baby yoga, music and movement, learn to sign or even do arts & crafts.

Membership is super flexible, allowing you to attend classes when it suits you - booking via the app up to 30 mins before classes start, or cancelling up to 2 hours beforehand if something comes up or you just don't fancy it!
