Creative Writing Workshop: Writing Stories for Magazines

Tuesday 12 September for six weeks 10am-12noon
Do you enjoy writing stories? Maybe there are stories inside you that you haven’t yet got down onto paper?
What about sending your work to magazines that publish fiction and pay for it? Or entering competitions?
This course will cover the techniques of short fiction, focusing on marketable stories, and on the 'nuts and bolts' of submission.
We will do lots of work on finding inspiration and growing your plot. Later in the course we’ll aim to do a ‘joint critique’ of the stories.
Alison Carter publishes hundreds of stories and serials a year in women’s magazines, plus articles about writing in the trade press. She teaches the craft regularly at The Hawth, at the offices of ‘The People’s Friend’ in Fleet Street and across the South of England.
If you came to this course in Spring ‘17, you can still consider attending the autumn one. Alison will cover some of the same ground, but will aim to vary the sessions and exercises to give you fresh practice and inspiration!
Tickets: £6 per session
