Sewing Workshops
Mondays 12, 19 and 26 June, 12noon - 2pm

Would you like to be creative for a few hours, whilst relaxing and having a chat?

Be part of The Hawth’s very own pop up sewing group led by Diane Carney.

Come along with nothing more than a bit of enthusiasm and you too could be the proud owner of a unique bag, make-up bag, cushion, gadget case, to name but a few of the projects on offer for you to make by hand. All fabric, needles, threads, pins, zips etc will be provided.

£20 per session


Life Drawing Sessions
Mondays 6:30 - 8:30pm & Wednesdays 10am - 12noon 

An informal class of drawing the human form. A great way to learn and improve skills in a bright and comfortable setting. Please bring your own drawing materials. 
Rachel Cowell (Ginger moo) will be offering five Life Drawing sessions in The Loft focused on learning and experimenting with new materials and gaining more skills for people regardless of ability or previous experience.

The classes will be held on the following dates:

Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm: 24th April, 8th May, 15th May, 22nd May, 5th June // 19th June, 26th June, 3rd July, 10th July & 17th July 2017.

Wednesdays from 10:00-12:00pm : 26th April, 3rd May, 10th May, 17th May, 24th May // 21st June, 28th June, 5th July, 12th July & 19th July 2017.

Admission is £12 per session or £10 per session if you block book all five. Click here to book. 


Creative Writing Group
Bi-weekly Tuesday 16th May - Tuesday 25th July 2017 10am -12noon

We are excited to announce our new venture with Alison Carter offering a bi-weekly Writing Group here at The Hawth.

The sessions will take place from 10am-12noon on a Tuesday in Cafe Vita and cost £5 for a ticket. A drink of tea or coffee will be included within the ticket price. Click here to book

We believe this will be a fantastic opportunity to meet/keep in touch with fellow creative writers, support each other in the writing process and receive guidance from Alison on a regular basis. The group are also welcome to meet together on alternate weeks to the paying sessions to discuss and develop ideas together.

The dates of these sessions are as follows: Tuesday 16th May, Tuesday 30th May, Tuesday 13th June, Tuesday 27th June, Tuesday 11th July and Tuesday 25th July. 

Alison Carter publishes hundreds of stories and serials a year in women’s magazines, plus articles about writing in the trade press. She teaches the craft regularly at The Hawth, at the offices of ‘The People’s Friend’ in Fleet Street, and in courses in Haywards Heath and elsewhere.


Ukulele Lessons
Range of Saturdays 10 - 10:45am (Beginners) 11 - 11:45am (Improvers)

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to play the instrument of the moment, the ukulele, here at The Hawth Theatre. The course will offer students the chance to learn the basics of the instrument, how to play within a group and enjoy making music, while also learning some of the basic principles of modern music making. Participants must be 13+ in age.

Our instructor, Mark Orchin has over twenty-five years of teaching experience under his belt, and has performed as a guitarist since 1989, recording and releasing five albums in addition to performing at the Hawth Folk Festival for twenty-five consecutive years.

We are offering a taster session on Saturday 29th April 2017 (some instuments provided) for £5.

The course will then take place over the following dates: 6th May, 20th May, 10th June, 1st July, 15th July & 29th July 2017. Admission is £7.50 per lesson.


Papercraft with Natalie O’Shea
Sat 16 September 1 - 5pm, Sat 21 October 10am - 2pm & Sat 18 November 9.30am - 1.30pm.

Come and join Natalie O’Shea to make a fabulous handmade greeting card.  If you thought you weren’t artistic, then Natalie will show you how easy it is to make personalised cards whether you think you are crafty or not.

£20 per session. Please pay on the day. 


Photography Session
Sat 18 November 4 - 7pm

Members of East Grinstead Camera Club offer a free session on composition, location and camera techniques.

Talks are accessible to everyone and will use the Club’s exhibition to illustrate the session as well as answering technical or other questions you may have.
