Strangers on a Train follows two men, Guy Haines and Charles Bruno, who meet on a train and impulsively agree to "swap murders" to avoid suspicion. Guy, a successful architect, wants to divorce his unfaithful wife, while Bruno wants to kill his abusive father.

The story, originally a novel by Patricia Highsmith, explores themes of duality, the proximity of good and evil, and the consequences of unchecked desires. The encounter on the train exposes the dark side of seemingly normal individuals and the disturbing ease with which violence can be conceived and enacted.
