We’re looking for experienced industry professionals to join our freelance technical team.

As part of the venue’s technical crew, you’ll support a range of events and productions across the theatre.

Responsibilities may include:

• Operating sound, lighting, stage and other technical equipment
• Supporting get-ins, fit-ups, rehearsals, performances and get-outs
• Assisting with routine and specialist maintenance of venue equipment
• Working closely with the venue’s technical team to ensure smooth and safe operations

A high standard of housekeeping and a strong commitment to health and safety is essential for everyone working at the venue, whether employed or contracted.

Freelancers will be required to:

• Maintain their own professional indemnity insurance
• Submit invoices for all hours worked (payable within 30 days of receipt)

We offer week-long work placements. Those interested in gaining insight into the inner workings of theatre. During your placement, you’ll get an introduction to key departments that keep the Beck Theatre running. This includes Customer Experience, Marketing, Ticketing, Technical, and Producing. Previous participants have described the programme as “educational, fun, and insightful.”

We are currently not able to provide work experience placements, please check back in 2026 for updates.
