When Earl Nigel Marshwood returns to England with his fiancée, American actress Miranda Frayle, it is to the great dismay of his family. Matters are complicated further when it is revealed that Miranda, thought to be Hollywood royalty, is in fact the estranged sister of the Marshwoods' maid.

While the exasperated family tries to calm relations between the sisters, Miranda's hell-raising boyfriend arrives in hot pursuit – so who gets the girl?
