Bugsy Malone Summer School

Last Sunday (10 June) saw the first rehearsal for Bugsy Malone The Musical Junior at The Hawth with the young cast members coming together to rehearse the production which is based on the hit 1976 film.

Two gangs in a fictitious city populated only by children are in a rivalry of Capone-ian standards. Dandy Dan's gang has gotten the upper hand since acquiring the 'splurge' gun (a weapon that shoots whipped cream).

This is one of the most famous elements of the film, and one that will, of course, be recreated in The Hawth Youth Theatre’s production. Therefore the whipped cream weaponry had to be tested and this led to some fantastically messy fun for the cast (and a huge clean up job in The Hawth Studio!).

With the actors getting themselves this messy at the first rehearsal, with only one bucket full of ‘custard pie mix’, audiences can certainly look forward to a fun-filled and messy show when the cast take to the stage from Friday 16 - Saturday 17 August. The show also features all the well-loved songs and characters including Fat Sam, Tallullah, Blousey and of course, Bugsy himself.

Tickets are priced £12 (Discounts: £10)/For cabaret and stalls seating: £10 (discounts: £8) and are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 and www.hawth.co.uk.
