Casual Workshop Assistant

Grade O1L1

Type of Contract: Casual


To assist running workshops & Dance Classes for the Hazlitt Youth Theatre & The Hazlitt Dance Company. Shifts are primarily evenings and weekends; however some daytime shifts may be required.


To work with the Youth Theatre Leader and the Hazlitt Dance Company Leader to run weekly workshops & Dance classes

To assist with Youth Theatre and Dance Company events and productions through the calendar year.

To assist in the running of Educational workshops where necessary.

This Role will also come with the opportunity to work Front of House as one of the Hazlitt Stewards. This is very much a front line, customer facing role, where skills such as communication, politeness and ability to adapt will be required.

Experience in Performing Arts would be desirable. You must be able to work flexibly and have a genuine interest in Theatre and the Arts.

Theatre Technician 

Grade: 02L2-03L3 

Salary: £18,019-£18,604 (age & experience dependant), plus the chance of additional hours Hours of work: 40 per week (annualised) 

Holiday entitlement: 20 days plus statutory holidays 

Notice period: One month

Purpose Of The Role 

To contribute to the running of the Technical Department and the maintenance of the building. To assist the Technical & Facilities Manager. To work on a broad range of incoming and in-house productions, in a variety of job roles (but specialising in audio). To lead casuals and others as necessary. 

The Candidate 

The ideal candidate will specialise in sound, but also needs a good knowledge of, and experience in, all aspects of technical theatre, including projection and A/V, lighting, flying, get-ins/outs, and rigging. The candidate will also be computer-literate, and able to work with associated software, including Q-Lab. A good knowledge of health and safety is desirable, as is a demonstrable ability in general maintenance. Also desirable would be a knowledge of (or qualification in) electrics and/or networking.
